Minimashima is the first Japanese restaurant in Australia that I’ve walked into and been instantly transported back to Japan.
That feeling lasted from the moment I walked through the door until we’d finished dinner and were back on the street. The entire meal was exceptional – and authentic. Supremely fresh, quality seafood – much of it shipped from Tokyo’s famous Tsukiji fish market is handled with extreme care from this knowledgeable master with knife skills to put the average sushi chef to shame.
I can’t get his food out of my mind.
Not only was morsel after morsel of Minamishima’s Sushi the kind of stuff a food-wanker repeatedly wets his pants over (or hers as the case may be) but the course start and end dishes by Chef Hajime Horiguchi were also excellent. Grilled shiitake, Clam, Chawan Mushi, Warabi Mochi and a wafer thin slice of bloody good flourless chocolate cake, almost biscuit like, with Japanese Whiskey ice cream.
I can’t praise this place highly enough – just go. But plan ahead – I believe they are booked out 2 or 3 months in advance.
The price is on the website. It’s worth every cent. Do it.
But while you are waiting.. here’s some sample pics to make you hungry. OK so they are really here just to tease you wildly. Not everything we ate and not in precise order…. I’m not the sushi chef OK?

Damn 2 -3 months in advance, this place looks amazing! What’s the pricing like?
Hey there – there is pricing on their site – and a link in the post. But off the top of my head I think it is about $150 for the course. Plus drinks of course. Special occasion stuff.
